A correctly chosen SMF battery in regular use lasts 3–5 years on average. Short trips, extreme heat/cold and long idle periods shorten life. A free annual test catches an ageing battery before it strands you.
No — it's not recommended. Start-stop systems generate far more cycles than a standard battery can endure; a standard battery will lose capacity within months and the start-stop function may deactivate. If your car came with EFB, fit at least EFB; if it came with AGM, fit AGM.
In gel batteries the electrolyte is immobilised as a gel: leak-proof, maintenance-free and fully recoverable from deep discharge, with up to 75% more cycling capacity than flooded types. Choose gel for cyclic use (marine, caravan, solar) and flooded/SMF for classic starter duty.
Low temperatures slow the chemical reaction inside the battery: at -18°C it can only deliver about half its capacity, while a cold engine demands more cranking power. The fix: a pre-winter test, terminal maintenance and, if needed, a higher-CCA battery.
Connect positive (+) terminals first, then negatives (-); disconnect in reverse order. Wrong pairing can permanently damage the ECU. In modern vehicles, don't take the risk — call our 24/7 line for a safe boost or on-site replacement.
The warranty covers manufacturing and material defects (cell short circuit, plate breakage etc.). Incorrect installation, over/under-charging caused by the vehicle's electrical system, prolonged storage in a fully discharged state and physical damage are excluded. See our warranty page for details.
Traction batteries are designed for one full cycle per day; low electrolyte levels or habitual opportunity charging permanently damage the plates. With regular distilled water top-ups, correct charging and monthly checks you get the full 1500+ cycle life.
No. Restoration works for capacity loss caused by sulphation; a shorted cell, broken plate or physical damage cannot be recovered. Our free pre-assessment tells you clearly whether your battery is a candidate.
Yes. When you buy a new battery we take your old one back for a trade-in credit and channel it to licensed recycling facilities. Lead-acid batteries are over 95% recyclable — never dispose of one with household waste.
